NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF SHELDON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Sheldon at the Town Office located at 1380 Centerline Road, Strykersville New York, on the 17th day of September 2025 commencing at 7:00 p.m. to give citizens the opportunity to consider a proposed local law that will allow the Town Board to adopt a budget for the fiscal year 2026 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the limit specified in General Municipal Law Section 3-c.
Section 3-c of General Municipal Law sets a “Property Tax Cap” on the amount that a local government’s property tax levy can increase each year. Said cap is 2% or the rate of inflation, whichever is less, with some exceptions. Local communities have the ability to override this cap with the adoption of a local law.
ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THIS HEARING WILL BE ENTITLED TO BE HEARD AT THE TIME AND PLACE THEREOF

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Sheldon at the Town Hall on the 17th day of September, 2025 commencing at 7:00 p.m. to give citizens the opportunity to consider a proposed local law entitled, “Prior Written Notice.”
The proposed local law will supersede New York Town Law §65-A to provide maximum protection against lawsuits from defects and obstructions on Town highways, bridges, streets, sidewalks, crosswalks, and culverts in the Town of Sheldon. New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal recommended to the Town of Sheldon that they consider enacting this proposed local law.

Notice is hereby given that the Assessment Roll for the Towns of Orangeville and Sheldon, in the County of Wyoming and State of New York for the Year of 2025, has been finally completed and verified by the undersigned Assessor, and a certified copy thereof was filed in the office of the Town Clerk on the 1st day of July, 2025, where same will remain open to public inspection. First 10,000, minimum $20.00
Thereafter, per 1,000 gallons $ 3.00
effective 120 days from today on January 19, 2023.
